Sad News

THE BIG THING:  I am sad to say that an era has ended.  LC has joined Skeeter over the Bridge.  Skeeter joined me in 1992, LC the year after.  Together, they were a major part of my life for 17 years.  I hardly know how to imagine their absence.  While LC was still here, so was Skeeter in a way.  Now she has gone too.

LC died peacefully at the vet place of a sudden kidney infection after some apparent confusion last night.  The details are HERE if you want to know the details and can tolerate pictures.

LC had been fading for many months due to thyroid problems (for which she had to accept oral meds twice per day and hated it).

I miss her so much.  This past year since Skeeter left, she became slowly more willing to be held on my lap for a few minutes.  Last night, she stayed there for almost 30 minutes and I was thrilled.  She even purred, and that has been a rare event this past 13 months.  I know it was only because she missed Skeeter so much, but I was so thrilled each time she was willing to lap-nap with me.

Last night, she voluntarily hopped on my lap.  I should have known something was wrong. She was saying goodbye and I didn't realize it.

I am sure that she would have wanted to convey her "goodbye-until-we-meet-again" to all of you, her dear friends, but she was caught off-guard herself, so I have to do it myself.  So, on her behalf, I will say "thanks for all the nice awardies, secret paw gifts, comments, and love.  See you over the Bridge someday - LC".

Ayla, Iza, and I will be taking a few days away from blogging while we mourn our absent auntie cat LC...

Farewell dear friend...

LC is an Angel in our hearts.

I understand what you're going through. When my Moseley passed away last month, it was the end of an era for me too. Bustopher passed away in Feb 2008 and he and Moseley were with me for 14 years, way before I had any of my other 8.

My thoughts are with you...

We are saddened by the news of LC's passing. I know how that "connection" feels, how LC kept Skeeter close to you and how now it is the young ones who will continue to share your life with you, filled with memories of Skeeter and LC.

May their love help you through this difficult time and I hope the love of CB, those who love and understand, will also help your sorrow fade and the happy memories remain.

We are so very sorry to hear this sad news. Our only consolation is that Skeeter and LC are now together at the Bridge ~ we hope you too can draw comfort from that.

17 years is a very long time ~ and Mom says she understands how you feel. Her last beloved cat Henry died aged almost 20 years old and she's had from when he was 8 weeks old. She said it's like losing part of yourself when a precious cat dies. The grieving is acute and painful ~ and you never stop missing them. But eventually, you are able to recall the good times, and know that you shared 17 wonderful years with a much loved cat ~ and nobody can ever take that away. They remain in your heart forever.

So please accept our heartfelt condolances for the loss of dear much loved little LC, and also know we are thinking of sweet little Skeeter too. RIP both.

The end of an era indeed. We know precisely how all of you feel.
Mom believes that Caesar and Princess were right there at the bridge to welcome her, with Skeeter right up front.
Now our hearts are broken and we must go over and over the memories of sooo many absolutely enjoyable adventures. So many years, we know that. It is good that we have photos that we can look at, and we will always have those treasures of the very last days, fortunately they were rather good ones given that they were senior kitties, so sweet, so gentle.
We are praying for all of you, it is good to take some time off. Mom bounced back a little better this time because she was able to be with Princess in her last days and hours, but with Caesar it was different. He left us suddenly over night.
Please take good care of yourselves. try to get ample sleep and eat properly. Print out some photos to look at and carry with you. It does bring comfort.

You are not alone in your sadness.

Ayla and Iza, I hope you have many more years with TBT before you join your brother and sister over the Bridge.
