Easy Like Sunday

Iza:  Sometimes it is good ta just bury my face against his legs an "nap out"...

Around the knees is best, but I'll take about any part of him that doesn't move fer awhile.  An I like it when his clothes match my furs.  I feel more safe an hidden then...

Hunting Mousies Inside

Toy ones, we know.  But still great fun.  An they dont bite.

They show up in the strangest places.  On the dish shelf...
Nex ta shoes...
I know they are near somewhere...
Must. Reach. Further. Under...
Mebbe unner the cushion?
[TBT:  LOL!, the box is full of them]

Sometimes they hide unner the chair.  I think I see one!

Garden Thursday

IZA:  Today, I am showing off the front yard a bit.  I am not usually allowed out there (because of "dangers"), but The Big Thing carried me around so I could see it and decide if there was anything I wanted him to take pictures of.  There sure were!  I saw things up close that I could only see through the windows before.  It was great (and I didnt try to get out of his arms the least little bit)!

I saw 2 really neat things out front.

First, I learned that we have a really cheerful mailbox!  The flowers are called Stella d'Oro.  With a little "deadheading" (picking off the spent flowers and seeds) they will bloom most of the Summer and Fall.  And I never saw the fishie with the street number until today!  The mailbox post blocks it from our windowsill...
The other cool thing WAS something I could see from the windowsill, but I never saw it up close before.  We have this neat tree that is absolutely covered in tiny yellow flowers.  It is called a 'Golden Rain Tree'.
The Big Thing says he has never seen another one annywhere.  Well, actually, we have 2, but you know what I mean...

Here is a close up of the flowers...
The bees love it!  I was careful not to get TOO close.
Can you see the bees?  There is a Bumble near the lower left and a Honey bee near the upper right.  I had to "bee" a bit brave to get that close.

That's enough time out front.  I want to "bee" back in the backyard where I can walk around safely.

I think next week, we will have some blue stokesia in flower, and mebbe I can show some garden veggies growing nicely...

An Award

THE BIG THING:  Cheysuli awarded ME this great award!

Thank you very much; I don’t think I have ever gotten an award before.  Since the award came from Cheysuli, I think I should respond here rather than my own blog (but I may post it there, too)…

First, a few of you may have seen a reply Monday that disappeared a few hours later. That's because I didn't like my first answers and decided to save it to work on later.  Well, apparently, I hit the POST button out of habit, and the partial post showed up.  I deleted it as soon as I noticed it.

1. What would your perfect day consist of?

Getting up early to do weeding and watering the garden, being outside with Iza and Ayla while we walk around the yard together, sitting inside later watching science/nature TV with one or both on my lap, posting about the days events, preparing a good dinner for all of us, tossing toys around while I eat dinner commenting to kitty blogs after dinner, and then checking for kitty blog comments before going to bed.

Keep in mind, however, that I almost never have a “perfect day”.  That “getting up early” part is hard…

2. How would you describe yourself if you were an item of clothing?

Twill khaki jeans and shirts!  Sensible, durable items…

3. What hobbies are you currently working on?

New compost bins, a new kitty tree with curved platforms, veggie garden with heirloom tomatoes, and rebuilding an old garden bench.

4. Walking in the woods in wellies or barefoot on the beach?

Wellies.  I would never walk barefoot anywhere.

5. Have you ever hugged or sang to a tree?

No.  I have several very favorite trees in the yard though.

6. Growing your veggies or nipping to the Supermarket?

I love growing my own veggies.  During the off season, I will buy grocery veggies when I must.

7. Have you found anyone exciting in your family tree?

Family lore says that Barbara Feldon and I had paternal great (or great-great) grandmothers who were sisters.  And a maternal great (or great great) uncle was the title character of a book on railroad engineers (High Green and the Bark Peelers).

8. Slap up a meal in a posh restaurant or fish n chips from a wrapper?

That’s a tricky one.  I haven’t got “take-out” for years.  And I don’t like restaurants.  I prefer to cook for myself.  Pork stir fry one day, steak the next, chicken thighs after that, and then shrimps in home-made cocktail and tarter sauce the next…  And then maybe I’ll have a big lettuce salad with ham cubes…

I’d order Moo Goo Gai Pan or Char Shu Ding if ordering out.

9. Which element do you most resonate with–earth, air, fire or water?

Definitely Earth.  I like my feet on the ground and my hands in the dirt.

10. Do you believe in fairies?

Well, not really, but one of my favorite pieces from Fantasia is Dance of The Sugar Plum Fairies.  And here is the Tinker Bell calendar next to my computer:
I'm going to have to see who doesn't have this award yet.  Ayla and Iza probably know, but Iza is outside and Ayla is napping, so I'll do that part later...

Later:

We are awardies this one to:

A Kitty Named Reese
The Adventures of  Scarlett and Melly
Alasandra
Curls and Swirls
Life From A Cats Pertspective
We hope we dint mess up a link...  Tell us if we did.

Sharing a Windersill

OK, we admit we dont share close space too well.  But sometimes ya just gotta!  Like when there is somethin real inneresting goin on outside a window.  Especially an OPEN window (with screen, though).
Gotta get close peacefully ta both look out...

But we still need SOME space...
Oh, it was some birdies on the driveway.  It rained an there were worms...

Gives us an idea though.  See, we catch a worm, put it on the ground, and wait fer a birdie ta come by...  Now, how do we catch a worm?  We need a birdie ta catch the worm for us.  Then he gives us the worm, an we um... Wait!  Wasnt the birdie just next to us?

Silly Saturday

IZA:  Well, ta be honest, it wasnt taday.  But I dint wanna let the picture get away.  It happened a few days ago.

It rained.  It rained real hard...
It rained so hard that The Big Thing could even take a picture of it...

I was out in it!  He had let me out just a few minutes before and the rain was completely unexpected.

When it hit, he stood out in the rain on the deck an called an called me.  He went down to the basement patio in case I was hidin there unner the deck an called an called me.  Then he went back up ta the deck an called an called me.  He whistled.  He yelled my name.  He clapped his hands.  I dint respond...

When it stopped rainin, I walked out from unner the BBQ cover 5' away from him an walked inside purrfectly dry.

He was wet.  I wasnt.  Silly Bein...

Thank You Note...

AYLA:  I want to thank all the kitties who come to my 3rd Birfday Party yesserday.  Some left comments and some just visited, but a great time was had by all.  Many kitties brought Nip, which everykitty appreciated, an some brought treats and fancy foods which was great…

I also want to thank Iza, who graciously led many of the guests on several garden tours even though it wasn’t her party.  I spose that means I owe her a favor.  I’ll try to think of the least I can do to repay it.  Mebbe I’ll show her where I been hidin some of her rattley mousies.  Or mebbe not…

Everycat brought some live moles.  The Big Thing let everykitty who wanned to, ta hunt one inside.   He put a mole in the baftub an let a coupla kitties at a time go in there after it.  There were enough ta last for all the indoors kitties.  The outdoors-comfy kitties were allowed out where Iza showed them good huntin spots for our own natural outside moles.

Kitties who brought Nip:  Kea, Zippy/Sadie/Speedy, and Calle/Halle/Sukki.Thank you, it was much appreciated!

Special thanks to the Katnip Lounge for creativeness.  They brought a jar of lively moths toward the end of the party!  When the jar was opened, all kindsa fun ensued…  An thanks to TBT for bein a good sport about THAT!

Garden Tour attendees:  Iza was thrilled ta have some kitties to show off the garden to some of our guests who could go outside.  Calle/Halle/Sukki, Brian, Artemesia/Socks/Skylla, Sweet Praline, Harry Spotter, The Island Cats, Cory, Derby/Ducky, Shaggy/Scooby/Scout,  and Jack/Baby.

And thanks ta Reese, Fat Eric, Jan’s Funny Farm kitties, the House of Cats kitties, Cheri, SuziQCat, The Crew, Maggie May, Max The Psychokitty, Cat With A Garden, The Lee County Clowder, The Meezers an Billy, The Island Cats, Spitty-The-Kitty, and Samantha&Clemmie for coming by ta help me cellybrate…

An thanks to the several kitties wif Turbo Trak esperience who helped me get used ta such a big ball track!  I am playin wif it more now.  Still cant get the ball over the hump, but I WILL!

I sure hope I dint miss annykitty!

PS’s:
1.     To Artemesia/Socks/Skylla, yes, that was a Japanese Painted Fern.
2.     To Harry Spotter, Iza is blushing at “You sure are a master gardener”…
3.     To Shaggy/Scooby/Scout, being unner the downspout IS too wet fer Hostas.

Garden Thursday

IZA:  I know its Ayla's Birfday taday (my, she has lots of visitors) but I dint wanna skip the Garden Tour!  She said it was OK ta post about it...  And it was nice` ta have some of the kitties at Ayla's birfday party to come along on the tour with me!

So, I was lookin around the backyard today, tryin ta decide what ta show ya all this week, then I remembered that last week I promised ta show the hostas!

Problem solved...

We have a long narrow bed in the woods an a square box in the front.  Both get lots of shade.  Hostas really love shade.  Thats real good cuz not much else does!  We do have ferns an heuchera with them, though...

The woods hostas are in a 30' bed along the fence (too long fer a group picture), but here are 2 of my favrits...
An here is one of the ferns...
The front yard hostas are easier ta show in a group...  Here is the left half...

(Personally, I think The Big Thing planted those too close together)

And these are on the other half...
It looks a little sunny, but they only get late afternoon sun and thats through some trees...

I cant wait ta see whats in bloom next week!  I think we will have lillies an mebbe a tree.

Happy gardening...

IT'S MY BIRFDAY!

AYLA:                                                    I'm 3!

Evrykitty is welcome ta come visit and help me cellybrate it...

We got a whole bunch of differnt flavors of Stinky Goodness...

We got our new rattly mousies!

We got our new ball track!

An, of course, we got boxes an bags and a kitty condo to play on.
We got HAM and REAL LIVE DEAD SHRIMPSIES!

More Prezzies!

AYLA:  I was a little disappointed yesserday, cuz The Big Thing went huntin and brought back mousies, which Iza likes.  Oh, I carry them around sometimes, but I like searchin around fer hidden stuff mostly.  Like pawin unner doors, poking unner cushions, lookin behind books on the shelves, pawin at the ball in my ring toy, explorin closets, etc...

But Iza tole me last night that TBT got somethin fer ME especially that he seen other kitties really havin fun with on their blogs.  I couldnt figure out what it was...

O-M-C!  Its the big ring toy I seen on other blogs!
An look!  It can be made inta 5 differnt shapes!  I couldnt wait...

He made the 8 shape cuz thats how we usually see it, but he will change it around evry couple weeks ta see which way I like best (an change it sometimes annyway just fer fun).
I havent played with it yet.  I hate ta say it, but Im a little afraid of it - its so BIG...   TBT says I will get over that and we will get a picture when I do...

Why did he get this new toy, you ask?  Cuz tomorrow is MY BIRFDAY!  I dint even remember that!  We will be havin a party tomorrow startin when we wake up (about 8 am EDT)...

Prezzies!

IZA:  Cool!  The Big Thing went out huntin taday an he came back with a bag he wouldn't let us look in.  We knew that meant there was stuff fer US in it!

Sure enough, he took somethin out of it after lunch.  It was MOUSIES!  Well, mousies are about MY favrit toys.  Ayla doesnt like them so much.

They came in little bags an I couldnt see them too good at first...  Each bag has 12 mousies init!  Thank goodness fer that; I was down ta 2 little mousies (my skinned mousie bowl is gettin fuller an fuller).

Then he opened the first bag.  Really fuzzy mousies with long tails.  I love tails...  Iffen ya count them, there is one missin.  I grabbed it an ran off before he could even take the picture...

Then he opened the 2nd bag!  Fever-butt mousies!  Oh, I love THEM even more...

An they are all RATTLEY mousies...  I dont know who thought of that first, but they belong in the Cat Hall of Fame...

TBT says not ta worry about Ayla, cuz he has a surprize fer her tomorrow.  Something he says she likes more than I do.  But I can play with it iffen I want.  Play with WHAT?  I dont know what it is...

What do YOU think it might be?

An Awardie!

We are so happy ta get this new awardie from our good friend Herman!  Thank you very very much... It is a great awardie!

We saw this one bein passed around and loved it.  Now we finally get to reply about things about us and pass it ta others.  Yay!

IZA:

1.  I love beating/pushing the bubbler water bowl around.
2.  Tossed squiggles are the BEST things ever.  I will chase them into annywhere.  I ended up in the dryer once.  (It wasn't turned on)
3.  Rattley mice are next best.  I bat those things around all night an day.
4.  I can sleep unner the blankies ALL night.
5.  I love following The Big Thing around the yard.  Especially cool is hidin in the plants and pouncing his shoes when he isnt lookin.

AYLA:

6.  Lickin the foodbowls so clean they dont have ta be washed (they get washed annyway).
7.  Chasin pompom fluff balls is SO great.
8.  The higher I get, the happier I am.
9.  Iza cant climb at all an I love that.  All heights belong ta ME!

Now we sposed ta give it ta 9 other blogger kitties.  That's too many fer us.  We're gonna do 5.  We searched careful ta see who we wanted ta give it to what dint already have it.  Some blogs dont show awards, so we hadda make some guesses.

We are awardin this to:

Spitty The Kitty
Nico The Polymeezer
Jacqueline's Cat House
The Island Cats
Darling Millie
The Furrydance Kitties
Alasandra's cats
Sweet Praline
Samantha and Clemmie

Oh wait, that IS 9!  (We are countin on our toesies to be sure)  1, 2, 3, 4, 5.  Um 6, 7, 8, 9.  YES!  Yes, we are sure that is 9!  Yay, we found 9 deserving kitty blogs that we visit alla time and dont seem ta have this awardie yet (an SHOULD).

Foodbowl Mousie

IZA:  The strangest things appear in my foodbowl.  Squiggles, rattley mousies, whiffle golf balls...

Like yesserday:

I shoudda jus ate the mousie...

UPDATE:  To answer some comments...

1.  I think Ayla does it.  I bat toys around, but she carries them sometimes.
2.  The little characters are kitties, though ya cant tell from this angle.  Seen better, they got long tails an whiskers.  They DO look like piggies here, dont they?
3. The little bowl is in a bigger bowls, cuz I shove the little one unner the counter.  Ayla licks her bowl clean an it nefer moves.  I dont know how she does that...
4.  We get crunchies once a day, but iffen a bowl got knocked over, The Big Thing wouldnt hafta sweep up.  I'd eat every one annyway!

Laptime Pleasures

IZA:  Sometimes when Im on The Big Thing's lap, I get the urge to groom.  Not myself, but him.  So there I was, and his hand showed up in front on me...
I couldnt resist.  Out comes the tongue...
And contact is made.  I lapped on his lap fer a while...
Then when I got tired, TBT returned the favor.  I got skritchies all over fer a long time.  AAHHHHHH!
Then I seem ta haf passed out.  I dont remember that part (but then I never do).  What can I say?  He has magic hands...
I never met Skeeter who came before, but TBT says I am so much like him (with some exceptions).  That makes me happy.  But I gotta ask him about those "exceptions" someday.  Or mebbe I shouldnt..  TBT says ta never ask a question ya dont wanna honest answer to...
