Cowlick (Catlick?)

The Big Thing:  Back was I was a kid, boys had buzzcuts.  I always had this one "cowlick" where the short straight hair twisted.  No amount of Brylcream could straighten it.  I hated it!  When I was in college, I grew my hair longer and it finally went away.  So I was amused to realize that Iza has a cowlick herself (or would that be a "catlick"?).  Actually, there are 2 of them, close together.

I've watched her lick the spots smooth with great determination, only to have it pop up again soon.  She keeps working at them, but to no avail.  Trust me, I sympathize!  But, alas, it IS also amusing.

So I offer these pictures...

So, I ask the kitties out there...  Should I snip them off or leave them be?  Iza is undecided and wants advice.  On the one paw, she doesn't want rebellious furs.  On the other hand, snipping them might be an insult to her other furs.

Leave them! They give her character!

What Praline said! Funny enough, my human has a cowlick too, right on her forehead, which has made having bangs (a necessity with a high forehead like hers) very problematic.

Yes, I think leave them.

Leave them if that's what they are, my sister Dolly gets something that look like that but it is usually a mat that can only be felt with a comb. If they are cowlicks that's cool, my Dad has one but I've never seen the cow!

Well, you could trim one and see how she reacts.
Maui's furz are always a complete mess and he can't imagine only having two catlicks! Mommy calls him a feline swiffer.

Definitely leave them! Maggie May gets those too. Mom calls them spikes.

Olivia has that too. Only with her they're kangaroolicks!

We never seen that!! And we agree with Praline...leave them! They are Iza's special mark!!

We think you should leave them too.
Although cats have such pride that any little thing that's amiss causes them great consternation.
Our mom has 4 of them at the back of her head. But she can't lick them.

Yup, leave 'em. If you snip, they'll just come back most likely.

Leave them alone! Your cowlick is still there, even if you don'tsee it.

Leave them! Once you start snipping, it'll never end. At first, you'll think you can just snip once in awhile, just for the holidays maybe, but then you'll be thinking about snipping all the time and then you'll never have a moment's peace again.

We vote that it should stay - it is cute! And a catlick is better than a bald spot! And so Iza knows, she isn't the only kitty with them - we have seen them on other kitties too. We think that the way our white chestfur kind of makes a mowhawk (on Gus, Barney and Stella) is kind of the same thing because the fur grows in all crazy directions.

That's so cute! I say leave 'em.

If it was me, I wouldn't want my Mom messing around with my furs. I say leave them alone.

Unless there's a bump, or bite, or it's matted furs.... but if she's always had it, leave it alone.

Lotsa good advice from your adoring fans! Disco is also now sporting a new 'do' which one of his followers called a 'body beard' and that sure made us laff!
