Marley Smudge

THE BIG THING:  Marley has the oddest small marking on the right side of his head.  It took me a while to get any close pictures of it.  It is either black or very dark brown (hard to tell against orange).
I first thought it was an artificial marking like with a felt pen, as it was not greasy or washable.  It isn't.  Close examination shows that there are some individual adjacent orange furs right next to black ones.
Does this make Marley technically a calico?  I'm not familiar with the multi-colored cat markings.
Wouldn't it be funny if Marley was the least calico calico?  Any ideas?

Maybe it just means Marley has a birth mark!

That would be funny since I thought calicos were mostly female. I agree with Sparkle, I think it's a birthmark too!!!

that is so cool Marley!

First off, if Marley is a calico he will be a famous one as 99% of them are female. The males are worth thousands of dollars. I'm rooting for you Marley. Hugs, Deb=^..^=x5

Just a cool, distingushing mark. Plus, aren't calico usually female?

It adds to his personality and makes him look very distinguished and just a little bit mysterious.

That's an interesting mark!! But we don't think a male cat can be a calico...or if he is, he would be sterile.

It kinda looks like eyeliner!

Marley's smudge looks very cute. We have quite a lot of black furs scattered individually amongst our ginger ones and they can only be seen if you look carefully. We don't know if they can be seen in any of our photos, mum will have to check that out. Maybe Marley has got his all in one place.
