Unhappy

MARLEY:  Well, things are really sad here.  Ayla keeps hissing at me an Im confoosed.  I assume she smells some Lucyfer furs on me.  I've licked myself clean as possible (and even Iza has helped), but evry time Ayla comes by an sniffs me, she hisses.  Seriously, she is ANGRY.

She won't nap with me, won't eat next to me, and won't use the litterbox near me.  I thought she was jealous of my trip at first, but thats not it now.  She treats me like an intooder cat!!!  Its not like it was MY fault I got a few furs on me.

She is normal around Iza, and Iza is normal around me!

TBT says I may need ta take a real wet bath!  I've never had one of those before.  They seem awful.  I'm not sure if that would help.  TBT took 2 showers and Ayla hisses at him too, still. An Ayla hasnt been on the bed, TBT's lap, or unner the covers since we got back.  She is being a total jerk.  But I want to fix things.  I would do annything!

Anny suggestions?

I think Ayla will come around. She has just forgotten that you are you and that she likes you!

You might try getting some Comfort Zone with Feliway. That often helps. Rescue Remedy is another solution you might use to destress Ayla and Marley. You could also try rubbing everyone down with catnip - that way everyone smells the same (and smells awesome!).

We heard using the same towels helps, too. Things will prolly calm down in a couple of days. Mommy thinks Lucyfer is a hee-larious name. (wish she'd thot of that fur Precious.)

Oh, poor darling. I have a similar suggestion to Sparkle's: TBT could try putting a strong scent on all three cats' heads so that you all smell the same. When I first got Melly, one of the recommendations I got was to put some vanilla extract on both cats' foreheads. It sounds odd (and made them smell like cookies), but it did seem to help.

TBT: Awesome ideas. I have some Felliway dispensers but we haven't needed it since Marley arrived. Great idea to give that a try. And rubbing the cats with nip leaves is an outstanding idea. I never thought of that, they all love it.

It sure sounds better to me (and Marley) than giving him a wet bath!

As much as Marley has felt over-groomed by Ayla in the past, he sure does miss her attention.

Keep the suggestions coming...

We were going to suggest putting a bit of the same scent on them all too--never thought of vanilla extract. But the nip sounds better. :-)

We have heard of the vanilla-extract thing, too. I hop it helps!

I hope something helps, that is awful! Maybe you will have to have that bath!

I was going to say just give it time Marley, since you know Ayla really does love you...but the idea of getting a nip rubdown! Whoa...what's not to like about that! Then you won't care if she hisses at you.

We think the eau-de-nip idea is wonderful!
How about a play session "together" or something really irresistable to eat next to each other?
TBT, don't forget your shoes might smell like Lucyfur...better rub some nip on them, too.

Holy moley. I hope I don't get into a snit like that! I sure hope one of these suggestions work because I am sorry that you and the human and cat family have to go thru that.

A nip rubdown sounds good, tell us how it works out. Might work too for coming home from the VET too, when we tend to hiss at each other.

Maybe a damp wipe down and then nip on everybody will work. The towel thing never worked for me.

Poor Marley, but we have to say that nip rub down sounds good to us.

Marley, Wally treats me like this when I come back from the v-e-t. It has gone on for days sometimes. Have TBT rub both you and Ayla with the same thing...maybe a piece of his clothing...so you both start smelling the same. A nip rub down sounds pretty good too!! I think Ayla will eventually come around...Wally does after awhile. Though I understand how sad it must make you feel.

Now whenever I go to the v-e-t, mom takes Wally too so he'll smell the same.

Oh little Marley, we can't add anything else to the already great suggestions, whoever mentioned TBT's shoes made a good point too.
Poor baby, who woulda known this whole adventure would have turned out to be so wrong with unforseen things.

Poor Marley! Everybody has made some good suggestions. We'll just add in patience. We hope that Ayla will stop hissing soon.

Ayla sounds like Scylla with all that hissing. Time cures all, she probably does smell Lucy on you.

We saw where the Feliway and vanilla solved the problem. Glad y'all are friends again.
