Weighty Issues

Iza:  Oh Bast, its getting worse.  TBT googled Tonkinese an I'm sposed ta weigh only 8-10 pounds MAX!  If I have ta lose 4 pounds, I'm gonna die!

I look like THIS:

He thinks I should look more like THIS:
Now tell me, is THAT just wrong for me or NOT?

Um, gotta admit, is DOES look good...  Dang, I might be able to climb a tree like that.  Evan catch a evil skwerral!  Cuz I AM allowed outside iffen I want to go (cuz I dont try ta climb the fence)..

I gotta admit, I sure would be a outside huntress like THAT!

An TBT says he sure would like me better on his lap with a few fewer pounds of weight.  Seiriousy, I put his legs to "sleep".

So what do ya think?

Nothing wrong with thunder thighs and cat muscle. It is muscle, right ? I mean you don't have a 'sag bag' that wobbles under you when you run ? Hehehehe.
Äiti thinks big is beautiful and convex much nicer than concave, which is why she is trying to get me to eat more and more but the others have to sed some weight. Poor them. Poor you. But just think of the squirrels - if you catch them, you eats them!

Iza, the truth is that you would be a lot more active and playful and have lots more fun if you dropped some weight. I know other kitties have mentioned about how much more they can do when they have lost a few pounds. It's something to think about.

Seems like the thing to do these days sweetie, I'm dieting too...but healthy is good!

Well take is slow .... no crash diets. Maybe just a few less treats as healthy is betterer. xx

I agree with the last comment. Maybe a few less treats. My girl Piper is a little overweight and beginning the first of the year we are gonna give less treats..which by the way will be hard as she saids Mama when she wants a treat. She also does a trick for a treat. So giving less treats is gonna be hard but I have to do it for her health. Good Luck!

Oh Iza, my mom keeps going on and on about my weight too. It's hard having a heavier frame with those silky and slender sisfurs in the house.
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and we wish you a great 2012!

It's hard to diet but the results are worth it. Maybe start by cutting out the extra treats or the mid-day meal. Small steps are easier for the kitties to deal with. Slow and steady is our advice.

Iza, Darling, you look fabulous and I would love to sniggly right up to your soft self. But I guess what Dad says goes. Sigh.

We have the opposite problem here. *I* am plenty svelte. It's the Human who is not. She should come over there and chase you around. It would be good for both of you! MOL :-)

Well...Iza, next week starts the new season of The Biggest Loser. They still don't have a cats version so the human version will have to do...the trainers they are are very good looking so maybe you can watch and get some tips for burning the extra calories. Is there such a thing as a treadmill for cats?

I sure hope not.

pee ess, I'm a skinny little thing and I burn off calories zooming around the house and dragging socks around. Maybe you should zoom more.

oh, Iza! diets are no fun indeed! be sure to take it slow - it isn't good for us kitties to lose a lot of weight too quickly. We hope you have will have fun with extra play time. Purrs,

Well, I hate to admit it, but I do feel better for losing some weight. I run around nearly as much as Flynn now whereas before I used to lie around all the time.

FaRADaY: *waves paws* oh no no no! We canz be bigger 'n' 10 lbs! Rilly!! As a fellow Champagne Mink (we's TWINS yanno!) I don't think 10 lbs is an accurate "high" (Ryker was 12.5 yanno).

So I asked Mommy to weigh me so's we canz compare. I *did not* tell her to take me to the V-E-T (glares at Mommy) but I heers dats what she doing in da morning. She sez she'll have my weight for you later tomorrow.

But seriously, Mommy told me to ask what your vet thinks?

Ryker used to inform Mommy FREQUENTLY that Diet was DIE with a T and he was having None Of That.

I think you look pretty! I only weigh 8 pounds, but I WISH I could be bigger.

Iza, Tiki and Tavi were very healthy at 12-13 lbs. Maybe you could loose a pound or two, but we think four might be too much. Mom says that only recently have Tonks been getting smaller. Maybe TBT could talk to the evil V-E-T and see what s/he says.

Oh man, Iza, we hate diets!! Maybe more exercise would help.

Eh...I think I'm suppose to weigh 11-12 tops, and I'm about 18, but 99% of that is muscle. Yeah. Muscle.

Teri and the cats of Curlz and Swirlz said...

Those photos remind Teri of ones of Disco, ummm...sorry.

Disco has forced everyone in the house to diet now too, because after 5 weeks on his new diet food, he hasn't lost any weight! So, no more t/d kibble as treats, no more getting a few kibbles of TomToms dry food when Teri scoops out TomTom's serving and no more sneaking a few kibbles of the other cats food when he gets weighed. For a treat, they will all get baby food--no carbs!

We'll see how the next month goes with doing that (although cuz of the now 'free choice' Young Again kibble, now Mr D has diarrhea and is on metronidazole and Imodium...

Ryker The Tonkinese said...

We agrees wif Cammie - I was 11.7 pounds this summer at 1 year old the vet said this morning, and I'm not ONE bit fat, he sez! Only lately have some Tonks gotten smaller cuz of inbreeding. So...that 8-10 pounds? Not the best rule of Thumb--- err, Paw --- for us Tonks!

Mommy says lose the weight, Scylla nearly kills her when she has to pick her up so her sympathies are firmly with TBT.
