You look verry relaxed and your paws are purrfectly placed, sweet Ayla! You look like you are gazing at something most intently? A birdy perhaps?

TBT: The Human here. Yes, it is the CITY approving these little 'parklets.' And they are not just by restaurants--they are supposed to be little urban oases in any location where weary pedestrians can relax--but of course, it is mostly restaurants that apply to have them, though the street furniture belongs to the city, not the cafes etc. Restaurants are not allowed to harass those who are merely resting and not purchasing food or drink, though I am sure there is some pressure to move so 'paying customers' can sit. (Restaurants are supposed to get city permits to even put tables and chairs on the sidewalk at all, but that's another story).

Each of these little parklets wipes out two or three street parking spaces, and on a street like the one in the picture on Spitty's blog, there are SEVERAL of them, resulting in a cumulative loss of probably 8 or 10 spaces in a four or five block stretch. Not to mention the spaces that are now restricted in various other ways.

San Francisco seems to be declaring war on cars in recent years--encouraging walking, biking, public transit, which is fine--but in many situations that is simply not practicable for a whole variety of reasons. I am pretty glad that I am going to retire in a year or two and then the parking battles won't be so aggravating!

You look very comfy there Ayla. I would be tempted to nap on the seed tray.

Flynn, the seedling tray does look tempting to sit on, but they are marigolds and they smell a bit strong when crushed... I avoid them.

Well, Spitty's mom answered something I asked too yesterday.
