A Tuesday Survey And Votes

IZA:  TBT says it is time ta make a decision about me.  Either I can stay at 10-11 pounds and bug him about "starving" fer the rest of my life, or I can eat as much as I want and waddle to the Bridge early at 20 pounds.

Cuz I could do 20 pounds easy.  There is a reason my nickname is "Pudge"...

I want all the food I can eat.  TBT wants me ta stay around.  What do YOU think?

My human lets Binga complain! Well, she used to when she felt Binga didn't need to weigh any more than she did, but now that she's older (Binga, not my human... although I guess she's older too in human years), she has to work a little harder to keep weight on, so she gets extra food. But my human still lets her complain when she wants more. So look at it this way, Iza - if you are around long enough, there may come a day when TBT will be feeding you more because you might not metabolize food as well as you used to, like Binga! So there's that to look forward to.

Aila is in a similar predicament. We have to abstain. Sorry.

Is there a compromise? 11-12 pounds? Maybe just an extra snack once in a while with an additional play time to work it off?

The thing is, Iza, that while you might enjoy extra eating in order to get to 20 pounds, I think it very unlikely that you'd enjoy actually being 20 pounds, or very much more than 11. You'll feel fat, you won't be able to run and jump, you're likely to experience health problems, and - let's be honest - all the others will poke fun at you. I suggest you look for indulgences in areas of life other than food. I know, I know - 'tis easier said than done, but I truly believe that it's for the best.

Sighs. Hoomins always ruin our Good Times, don't they ? But we do want you around as long as possible.

Lower calorie noms, fewer treats, or waddle? Sounds like my life, too :(

We all want you around for a very long time! We are lucky that we live near a vet college where they have a veterinarian who specializes in companion animal nutrition, so they have all kinds of options for cats who need to lose weight. Maybe your veterinarian can recommend something?

Sorry sweetie, most of us are on diets here so we aren't qualified to weigh in so to speak!

Has TBT thought about getting you the Metabolic Food by Hills Science Diet, it worked wonders for Scylla. It helps you feel full while eating less and gives you energy so you are more playful.

You has to have a vet prescription for it. They measure you to figure out what your ideal weight is, then they tell TBT how much to feeds you. It worked wonders for Scylla.

Maybe you could compromise and weigh around 12-13 pounds, Iza.

Pipo is around 10 or 11 pounds, he was way more than that at one time, he slowly shed some poundage by eating a grain free diet.
Minko is around 7 -8 pounds, of course he only eats what meowmy puts in his mouth with an occasional snack of Pipo's noms. (Not enough to call it a meal...sigh...)

We have an angel kitty who got to be 21 pounds...and he got diabetes and well, he no longer is with us:( (Toki)

We are now here:

(We had to change our blog to make us have a real name instead of all those silly numbers.)

I think TBT is right on this one, Iza.
I used to be big cat at 16 pounds and not overweight, although I used to look small next to Eric who was huge at 23 pounds. Now I am just over 9 pounds and mum tries to keep me eating as much as possible. If you put up with the dreaded D word you will probably be allowed to eat as much as you want when you get older.

Remember,Iza, more fat, less jumping! And maybe more vet visits...grrrr... It's a trade-off...you'll be loved whatever you decide but we're voting for a lean, mean YOU!
