Caturday Saturday

MARLEY:  The rain finally ended, for now at least.  The sun peeked through.  TBT it said it might not last long, so I decided to take advantage of it.
He said that was a good idea too.
It has been SO dry most of September, it dried out fast.  It was still damp underpaw, but getting outside after days of rain was good.
I sniffed near the groundhog hole, but is ONE hole I wont stick my paw in.
Looking is about as far as I will go there,  But I DO allus look.  The hole is about 2 feet in front. of me..
I've watched that guy, and I don't think a bite to the neck will stop him.  He seems bigger than I am.  But I do think it is my duty ta check out his burrow from time to time.  Just ta let him know I  guard our yard!

TBT is trying to trap him in the live cage.  He is clever though.  So far, TBT has had to toss out 2 possums and the same turtle twice.  We don't mind the turtle, it eats slugs.  The possums merely eat the cage bait, so he shakes them around in the cage to frighten them and dumps them out of the cage into the storm drain (that leads to the swamp where they belong).

We really want to catch that darn groundhog though!

You got yourself one smart groundhog!

It's pretty rude that the critter keeps hogging the ground!

Good luck! He sounds like a slippery guy.

Yeah, even if the groundhog is bigger than you, you still have to check all the holes for activity. I always check the badger holes but know not to put my nose down there.

Hunting like that is good, cause then your TBT will know if Chucky as we call such critters is active. One of these days he may decide its time to sleep all the winter long...well until Feb 1 anypaws. MJF would stick his whole schnooter in there and try to dig him out,,,uh-huh, he is a terrier, a go to ground pup...he had=s taken down a couple of those dudes...you had best not mess with them, they can be kind of nasty when angry. Though coons are far worse. Was the sniffing good?? You did spend a goodly amount of time there:)

We have had buckets of rain over the past week, its so dreary, today there was a peep of sunnybeams but its supposed to rain again later. Petcretary is about to go to work, so she cannot take advantage of the sun and make some new pictures of us...sigh...

It sounds like that groundhog is too smart for the trap! I am amazed you trapped a turtle - we never see any loose around here. Lots of possums, though!

You are wise Marley not to stick your paw in there- he could bite your paw off. You don't want to know what my hubby does to them, no trap needed.

It looks like that groundhog is very tricky ! You are wise not to put your paw in the hole, but just go close enough to it to show that critter who is the boss of the yard ! Purrs

Basil, your assistance is welcome. But think of the groundhogs as 20 pound badgers... Come with sharp claws... MOL!

We haven't had any groundhogs lately, which is good. Hope TBT can catch that rascal and take it far away, Marley.

We have never seen a groundhog. We are not sure if we have them here in Israel.
But if he's encroaching on your territory, obviously you have to show him who's the Boss, even if he IS bigger than you (mol).
