Moo Cow, Part 2

MOO COW:  Sometimes I share my barn with Iza.  She is a very calm cat.  She is also a very warm sleeping friend.
We talk a lot.  She explains about cats and I explain about cows.  Sometimes she is really surprised.  She also examines my barn for ticks.  I hate ticks.  She has nibbled a couple off me, and that was nice.
We also whisper each other jokes.  I don't always understand hers and she doesn't always understand mine, but it is really the sharing that counts.  And sometimes we DO get each other's jokes and crack up together.

Moo Cow, Part 1

MOO COW:  Hi, I've been visiting Mark's Mews for a couple weeks.  It's been great!  The first thing TBT (The Mews name for their Bein it seems) did was build me MY OWN BARN.  I didn't really need the corral fences, but I have to admit is WAS comforting and familiar.

Here I am enjoying sitting in the front door.
It was also a great place to sleep at night.
I watched how the Mews and TBT went about their days.  They sure are different from us cows, but that is why I am travelling.  I like to learn things.
It is a REALLY spacious barn!  I LOVE all the room...
I'm keeping notes about them in my brain.  Cows have Very Big Brains, you know...

Easy Like Sunday

AYLA:  You know I like to be up off the ground.  This wood shelf on the hot metal box is very convenient.
And iffen Im quiet enough, I can watch IZA walk by unnerneath and she doesnt even know Im there!  This is a place she COULD get to easily so I dont want to alert her to it...
The corners of the shelf are great fer clawing on.  In fact, Ive torn one up pretty good.  TBT  (Happy National Pet Parents Day to him BTW) says he may have ta replace it.  Well, I wouldnt mind some fresh wood!

World Veterinary Day

Today is World Veterinary Day and we are honoring it by writing about ours.

When TBT moved here in 1986, he brought a womancat named Tinkerbelle with him.  He had not been all that great about regular vet visits before (but always kept any cat up-to-date on rabies shots), so one of the first things he did was find a regular vet.  At the time, the only nearby vet was Dr Jeffrey.

So he arranged an appointment.  TBT didnt know about shots other than rabies.  So after a thorough exam, Dr Jeffrey recommended several other shots and a tooth removal.  TBT had just moved and was BROKE, but he agreed.  We mean, "inexperienced and broke" doesnt mean  "stupid".  He recognized that we cats need more attention than just rabies shots.

It was the beginning of a very positive 32 year relationship.  Dr Jeffrey took good care of Tinkerbelle, then Skeeter and LC, and then US.  TBT always did whatever Dr Jeffrey recommended.

Well, he did have a habit of getting cats out of PTUs by turning them up and shaking the cat out; TBT cured him of THAT on Tinkerbelle's first visit REAL fast!  Seriously, HE showed the VET how to get us out easily.  Have one Bein hold the PTU and another (TBT in the first time) clasping our haunches and sliding us out backwards.  WAY less stressful...

But after that, it was a great relationship.  Dr Jeffrey was friendly, loved cats, and was always happy to explain things to TBT.  Dr Jeffrey found out why LC was getting her eyelids stuck shut when she was a kitten (it was an ear mite infection that caused eye goop that dried when she napped).  Dr Jeffrey is the one who finally got Ayla spayed properly after the breeder's vet botched it twice.  Dr Jeffrey shared some tears with TBT when Skeeter had to be helped to the Bridge.  Dr Jeffrey tried to save LC when she suddenly went comatose (cause unknown) and personally called TBT to say he had failed.

Dr Jeffrey is going to be missed...

At our recent annual visit, Dr Jeffrey said he was retiring in May.  He had moved his practice to another vet in town the year before, so his patients would get used to other vets.

TBT was sad about that, but had been expecting it for a couple years.  Still, he was sad to have it become official.  We will miss Dr Jeffrey too.  Its not like we enjoyed the visits, but we guess it is worth it to spend more time here with TBT and our house and yard.

Here are some pictures...

Ayla would not be going into heat again, finally!
Clippy claws...
Shots...
Calming a patient...
Talking to Marley before the shots...
Listening to Marley;'s heartbeat...

TBT is going to call the vet office this week to see if there is a retirement party for Dr Jeffrey.  We hope there is.  WE wont attend because if pets are allowed, there would be SO MANY we would get all stressed and upset.  But TBT would go to represent us all (past and present)...

So here is to vets all over the world who do their best to keep us in good health (even if we dont like all the shots and stuff).  Without THEM, we would be leaving our Forever Homes too soon, in less peace and calm, and sometimes in great discomfort.

We never thought we might say this, but...

"THANK YOU VET.
OUR BEST BET

FOR A HAPPY PET!"

We wish Dr Jeffrey a long and happy retirement...

Flashback Friday

MARLEY:  Today we are going back to this week in 2011.  I was still new here, but I was fitting in well.  And because of that, the Sisfurs were getting along very well.

We shared the cat trees...
We napped together...
We REALLY napped together!
I looked at TBT and said it was a good decision.
He may have found me (with help), but I approved of him, too, at my temporary Bein's home and that was impawtant.

Speaking of that day...  I heard a stranger come into the house and when the Lady called me, I came down the stairs halfway and looked at TBT.  He sat down on the floor and called my name.  I went the rest of the way down and crawled right onto his lap.  TBT was pleased and the Lady was relieved...  Well, I could tell right away he was the right Bein for me!

Wrongcat Wensday

AYLA:  Well gosh, we are all just so embarassed here!  Miss Megan was right, that IS Iza in the picture yesserday...

See, TBT keeps a list of pictures we can use in our blog.  He writes down the picture number, the subject an sometimes a caption, sometimes the theme day to use it for, and which of us are in it.

So I saw my name and Marley's next to those 2  pictures and just used them without lookin real close.

OOPSIES!!!

Mancat Monday

MARLEY:  I like being on the Lap.  So does Iza.  So sometimes we share it.
I allus ask her first.  I mean, she usually IS there first.
So, when she doesnt object, I move on carefully.
She gave me a LOOK, but she didnt complain either.  So I was there...
A wise mancat allus asks...

And we almost missed Earth Day!  It seems odd to have it the day after Easter...  So we are using our picture from last year real quick!
