Hunting

AYLA:  My hunting instincts are expressing themselfs more recently.  I recently found a REALLY GOOD PLACE to sit and watch for mousies.  Its a piece of wood and I can sit there not rustling the slightest of plant.  And talk about a Silent Launchpad for a pounce!  It is great.

It a board TBT put in under the birdie-feeder to make his stepladder level to fill the feeder safely.  Well, thats what it is to HIM.  To ME, its a pounce pad!

Its in the big daffodil bed.  And trust me, I know where every single mousie hole is in the bed.  This is the best spot.   Well, it is right under the birdie feeder and the mousies LOVE the spilled sunflower seeds.

On the other paw, when TBT calls me in for a meal, I don't sit around waiting for a mousie.   Food in the bowl is worth 2 mousies in the weeds...

  1. 'Food in the bowl is worth two mousies in the weeds' - yes, we love that. If we hear the pouch-opening or kibble rattle, we dive straight in too.
The pounce pad is magnificent - dual purposing such things shows great versatility and creativity.
We keep asking Äiti where your Catio-wire is. We have been told such things are essential for us, but you do not have them. Pffft.

  2. How clever you are, Ayla!
You own purrsonal launch-pad, observation deck! And it works good for TBT, too...good thing your platform is in the best place.

Maybe the mousie that Benji deaded and brought into our house came from under the bird feeder that petcretary fills with sunflower seed, the other one filled with peanuts, or the one filled with mixed seeds....

  4. Oh - that looks absolutely ideal for hunting mousies, Ayla. Looking forward to hearing (although not necessarily seeing) some of your successes.

  5. That board is the perfect launch pad, Ayla.
There is a railway sleeper on the edge of the thicket in one of the fields that Ivor puts on the chain harrows when he does rougher parts of the field. The boys used to love to sit on it and wait for the mice to come out.

  7. That pounce pad is pawsome. We agree....better to get a filled food bowl than have to wait for a mousie!

  9. How cool that you have a launch pad for mouse catching!
    It is pretty neat!
However we agree that food in the bowl is better and easier to get!!

  12. Be careful about a race from the back fence to the deck door, Katie. I am VERY fast. ;) But I would love to do that some day.
