TBT here: Never seen Laz do kneading. Maybe he was removed from "MOM" even too early for that and raised by lizards and just ate insects. He never butt-scootches either. There is much about Laz that shows a rather odd kittenhood and first year or so. He does not show signs of socialization around cats or people. But, to his credit, he IS learning, and rather well...
I'm not saying he is a normal socialized cat by any means. He still has problems. But he does seem willing to be socialized in spite of his bad 1st or 2nd homes (he may have passed through several before the breeder took him in and gave him some peace before he came here).
In some ways, it is the DEGREE of progress and socialization more than the actual amount. He won't sit on my lap (though oddly a couple times), he won't be held without showing considerable distress (like when I try to weigh him).
But he used to wander around at night calling loudly. I sometimes wondered who he is missing. Mom? Sibling? He doesn't do that so much anymore. I think Marley helps a lot and maybe Ayla lately, as he calms down and gets used to his Forever Home.
Don't worry Marley, I am always forgetting what I was going to do. Eric was a champion kneader but Flynn never did it until later years. He never really got the hang of it then either.
Iza used to shred cardboard egg cartons for fun, Ayla tears up cardboard boxes. Marley has shredded 1/4" sisal rope around the cat trees. You normally don't have to vaccuum up rope,,,
I'd rather not test the waterbed mattress, LOL! ~ TBT

Surely Laz has done some kneading of his own before now! Nevertheless, a good demo is invaluable.

He likes ME a lot. Can't complain about THAT!
