Still Here

TBT:   We seem to have successfully migrated the old 2011 Mac Mini to the "new" 2018 one.  Except for emails.  They just don't want to move.  We have asked a Mac Help Forum for assistance and advice.  They have been really helpful with other problems, so I expect a good response.

We don't want to leave the old Mac Mini (it still works for posting and I am using it here now) until we solve the email problem on the new Mac Mini.

It actually does still work for most things like email and blogger.  It's just that other apps are failing as they become unsupported on 32-bit and High Sierra.  The new one is 64 bit Catalina.

We may be getting a grip on the email problem.  When that is solved, we should be back online fully.

If the email migration doesn't work, we will still have them on this old Mac Mini and can play around trying migration things later.  Actually, if the new Mac Mini receives new emails, we will probably start using it and keep the old one as archive.  It costs nothing to keep it plugged in on a separate card table across the computer room.

Meanwhile, if we are still offline tomorrow, HAPPY NEW YEAR'S DAY TO ALL OUR FRIENDS, and hoping 2021 will be better than 2020!

Flashback Friday

We noticed that Christmas falls on Flashback Friday, so we are going with that of several differnt years:

In 2009, we had AWESOME icicles!

In 2012, we were all enjoying the cat trees with a festive Chrissymouse mat among us.

In 2014, we had a decorated tree.

In 2015, we showed off lots of cards we received.  Loved all of them!

In 2016, we hung a wreath on the door.

And we hung lights in the windows.

The inside view isnt all that much.

But the outside looked like this:

That was pretty cool.

And we will finish with a graphic we got sent years ago.

Northwind Kennels: Common holiday Pet Hazards - Northwind ...

Happy Holiday of yer choice.  May all you (our great friends) have a special day, a happy day, and a peaceful day.  Full of love and treats and Nip and attention.

Thankful Thursday

As Sandy Claws Day approaches, we thought it would be a good idea to mention things we are thankful for.

MARLEY:

1.  I am thankful TBT found me where I made The Nice Lady sneeze all the time.  She was kind, but TBT doesn't sneeze so I can be close to him.

2.  I am thankful for The Big Backyard, fenced to protect us from wandering woofies.

3.  I am thankful for scritchies, good foods, love, and attention.

AYLA:

1.  I am thankful I am a Princess  that TBT treats me like I am a Princess.

2.  I am thankful for my many years here.  As a small kitty, in most places I would be bullied.  Dad protects me and comforts me.

3.  I am thankful for his attention and scritchies and letting me decide where to eat my meals.

LAZ:

1.  I am thankful for my Forever Home.  My kittenhood was not good.

2.  I am thankful to get to go outside where I can run and run and run.  I was always locked inside before.  The outside is exciting an wunnerful!

3.  I am thankful TBT has no woofies.

4.  I am extra thankful for the Nice Lady who rescued me from the Pit Bulls and Grabby Kids and kept me safe until TBT came along.

5.  I am thankful that, in spite of making TBT almost give up on me, he waited the extra 2 weeks for me to finally understand what I had here while I caught on to Family Life.

6.  I am thankful for comfort and peace and safety.  Thankful for Marley accepting me as a Brofur and thankful for Ayla putting up with me until I settled down and got used to The New Place.

Weerd Wensday

LAZ:  Some pictures are just hard to figure out.  TBT took this one and couldnt decide what he was seeing.  He thought maybe he was wearing a hoodie and had bare shoulders or something odd.  And I was on the wrong side of him!

He finally figured out that the beige was his suspenders (belts dont help him much and the beige matched his skin color).  I thought that was funny, because I've never actally SEEN my own skin (which seems somewhat disturbing).

And the "hoodie" was just his shirt puffed up from the suspenders.  Now, sure, IVE seen him from behind (we all watch our Beins carefully, right?) but apparently HE hasnt.

Now that Im in my Forever Home, I pay more attenshun to the Bein.  Endless sort of amusement when you find the right one...  They know so LITTLE about themselves.  Easily distracted, obedient, trainable, no claws...  I envy the thumbs, though.

ThreeFur Tuesday

MARLEY:   Its a threefur today!  We were each in such comfy spots.  I was on the hammick and I like te freshly washed mat...

Ayla was on the blankie and towel-covered 2nd bedroom chair...  Its all like 2 feet deep, as suits a Princess.
Laz was nappin on the waterbed.  He loves resting his head on the pillow.
It doesn't get much better that all THAT!

Mancat Monday

MARLEY:  I LOVE the leg-lap!  TBT can sit still longer that way.  Iza used to love the real lap and he could pick her up like a sleeping Sticky-Kid and move her when a leg went all stiff without her nearly waking up.  Not me though.  A twitch and I leave!

So I love the leg!  And his hand is right there.  I can take being scritched gently FOREVER...

Sometimes I actally fall asleep pass out!

Easy Like Sunday

LAZ:  There is a chair in the bedroom where TBT sits to put on his furs and pawcovers.  But he knows I like to sit there some nights when he tosses and turns too much fer me ta sleep next ta him, so he put some folded towels on it just for me.  Ayla isnt the only one who likes Bloo.  I AM 1/2 Siamese, after all.

The towel is a bit claw0catchy.  Sometimes I have to shake a paw loose.
But it IS comfy, so I deal with it.
Tried a B&W pic.  I dont think it flatters me.  Makes me look a bit "boring".
When TBT starts to wake up, I watch him carefully.  Sometimes he just turns.  But when he actally gets UP, that means Breakfast!
I LOVE Breakfast.

Sleepy Saturday

MARLEY:   Sometimes sleeping late is wunnerful.  In the afternoon, some sunlight drifts in and warms my furs.

I still like this old platform TBT made (before I got here).  BTW, that shower curtain takes 2' off the room where TBT hides the sucky machines, and boxes of Xmas decorations and old books in The Mews Rom.  Ayla likes nappin on the boxes...  Laz likes rippin up the sisal roped board.

We all have some special spots.  Ayla loves the folded towel on the top of the shoe rack.  Laz likes the newer cat trees  This place is sorta "mine".

Flashback Friday

Today we return to this week 10 years ago (2010 for those who dont like math - well WE dont, we have to count carefully on our toesies MOL).  Iza was enjoying the cat tree.

She wasn't a climbing cat, so being up high was a strange feeling for her.  She would stare down at the "far-away floor".

She was allus innersted in looking at TBT at eye-level.
Loved rolling around on the platforms.
And liked looking out at the front yard, where she couldnt go.
Ayla liked the tree too, but heights were no problem for her.  She would sometimes just jump directly to an upper platform.
Iza seldom went to the very top, but "sometimes".
Getting down was allus tricky.  She had little climbing experience (being a "hefty" kitty) so getting down was allus an adventure.  Not that she wasnt strong (she was a regular python of muscle) but weight matters, MOL!
Which resulted in some odd attempts.  She would back down carefully.

Garden Thursday

We got up WAY too late today to do the Garden Tour (well it is dark now), but here is what ya would have seen, MOL!

The Perennial Pansy (planted Oct last year)...

Some Mums...

Some more Mums...
And the Berry, Berry nice Nandina shrub.  It really enjoyed all the rain this year!

Werdy Wensday

You cant see the bowl, but I decided to eat in the Captains Chair.  I like to eat in different places.  Sometimes it it there, sometimes the bathroom windersill, sometimes the dresser, sometimes the top of the shoe rack.  I've even eaten in the hamper.  He follows me around with the food bowl until I decide where I want to eat.  Princesses get that kind of attention...

We get 7 differnt flavors of Stinky Goodness plus crunchies.  Variety is the spice of life.

Speaking of flavors,  when it was Skeeter, LC and Me and later Iza, it was all birdy flavors like chicken and turkey and duck, but some venison and tuna.  Now, with Marley and Laz and me, it is almost all fishy flavors.  Salmon, tuna, tuna with shrimp, tuna with tilapia, tuna with chicken.  The crunchies are chicken.

He worries about all that tuna.  So he gets "sneaky" (If you think we cats are sneaky, you should meet TBT).  Just as he goes to bed and first thing in the morning, he gives us the chicken and the turkey.  We eat it overnight and in the morning because we are hungry...  We often ignore them t first, but later it is all gone.

Laz had the hardest time adjusting to that.  He was raised on crunchies.  Stinky Goodness was hard enough.  Now he has to eat flavors he doesnt like so well.  In fact he went from 9.8 lbs to 8.8 lbs his first 6 months here.  But he is back up to 9.2 and gaining the past 2 months.

TBT is relentless sometimes.  He says that when we are just around together outside or in, on laps, sleeping together in bed, he is "TBT".  But when it comes to vet visits or food, he is "Dad" and "Dad" cares about our health and a "balanced diet".

Mancat Monday

MARLEY:   Gee this kit can snuggle!

I dont mind...

Good thing fer him I dont fart like Iza did...  But keep yer claws in Bro. Thats sensitive territory..

Easy Like Sunday

AYLA:  I am taking it EASY on the computer chair today.  He says it about worn out.  Well, it suits ME just fine!

Soft...
Padded...
Could use a folded towel on it though...  I allus look better on bloo.

Im sure TBT will add one soon!

Skeeter and Flashback Friday

Something went weerd with our post yesterday.  It originally had a remembrance of Skeeter's Bridge Day at the bottom.  The space is still there, but the picture and text isnt.  So we will  do that for today...

Kitten Skeeter  arrived at his Forever Home in 1992.

He departed it December 10, 2008.

Computers

MARLEY:  TBT ordered the new computer.  The old 2011 one has to go.  It just doesn't werk much well these days.  But it won't get here until Jan 25th, so we will limp along until then.

He bought  a 2020 Mac Mini with Big Sur O/S and we bet he regrets it.  But he says we have to move forward.

  • Apple M1 chip with 8‑core CPU, 8‑core GPU, and 16‑core Neural Engine
  • 16GB unified memory
  • 1TB SSD storage

But is OUR blog, so we have pics!

Laz and I like to play.   He is rough, but I am big, so I let him pretend he is king.  When he gets too rough, I just stand on him.

We take breaks.
And nap together.
He knows he is "little" brother.
Being BIG is good.
