Flashback Friday

For Flashback Friday today, we go back to this week in 2013...

Iza was showing off her silken tum (and making sure to see we noticed)...

Nappin on the dishwasher door (an easy height fer her ta get to)...

We all watched a possum on our deck...

We napped together on the bed...

And Iza found a purrfect-size box ta snuggle into.

Garden Tour Thursday

AYLA:  Hi!  Ready a take The Garden Tour?  Well, lets see wat we have in this hot weather...

The Black-Eyed Susans are used ta this an are doin fine.

The Purple Coneflowers are strugglin a bit,  but thats probly cuz they are growin if the gravel pathway.  They will be moved in Fall.

These are baby frogs.  Or toads mebbe.  Cant tell yet.

TBT put out a tub ta grow these aquarium plants and some frog or toad mom found it real quick!

These are som Black-Eyed Susans TBT moved to the Meadow Bed a couple weeks ago.   They are strugglin a bit, but if they have lasted 2 weeks, they will probly be OK.  We dont expect much this year, but are hoping for good ones next year.  They hadda be moved cuz they were in a path an TVT doesnt like brushing past bees.

 The tomatoes are doing OK, but they better grow fast to produce fruits!

Same with the corn...

And the cukes.  Everything was planted late this year.

These bottles are on tubes in the soil to get water down deep to the tomato  roots.  The red plastic is good for sunlight the tomatoes like (an confooses the bugs).  But it doesnt let water through.

We think this is a Niger Thistle flower.  It is a volunteer from last year.

This MAY be  a weed.  But the bees like it an not much else is growin in the bee/butterfly bed...

Some of the Daylilies are still blooming.  It is late for them.  But it has been rainy and mebbe that helps...

Some Petunias are still blooming.  Now THAT is unusual.

Even 1 pot on the hot deck still has some flowers!

Well, lets relax on the deck, since we are here.  It is shady an cooler now.  But it IS still kinna hot out so we are just gonna have crunchy treats and Niptinis.  And cool water...

Mancat Monday

MARLEY:  Me an Laz are enjoying the sunpuddles in the coolth of the house today.  It is WAY too hot today ta go out.  TBT says it has been OVER 90 evry day this moonth but 2 (an they were almost that bad)

And Laz cant go out yet even iffen he was crazy enuf to!

Easy Like Sunday

AYLA:  It is really HOT out again today, so we are taking our EASY inside.  I found a new place ta nap.

Laz has been showing an interest in toys.  Oddly, not the ones Iza and I liked (Marley has no interest in toys).  Iza liked rattley mice and bouncy balls; I like plastic rings.  Laz has carried fuzzy stuff around.  And we have 2 toys that make noises (Squeeky Mouse and Chirpy Chicken).  He likes wand toys too, but only ta chew the string.  He separated 2 feathery things from their wands last week.

Marley is somewhere down in the basement nappin.

Caturday Saturday

LAZ:  Well, on Twofer Tuesday I waz tryin ta get ta te desk over Marley.  But I thot it best ta take another way.  So here I is on de desk...

I looked one way...

An ta other.

I got up top an wondered iffen I cud get higher.  That pitcher frame mebbe?  Looks kinna narrow.

So I looked down from as high as I cud get.

An there was big old Marley, still jus sittin there refoosin ta move!

Flashback Friday

AYLA:  First of all, we think TBT did something wrong to the computer and is fixing it, but it doesnt actally stop us from posting (we just THOUGHT it did).

Second, todays flashback is from this week July 2011.  I had an infection in my guts and hadda go to the VET.  When he got inside me, he found the original spaying vet missed some of my ladyparts TWICE!  An thats why I was infected.

So OUR vet found them and removed them an I never went ita HEAT again!  It was a wunnerful day...

The inflatable collar let me eat normally, too.

Twofur Tuesday

MARLEY AND LAZ:  This is NOT what you think...  Well, actally we're not SURE what ya think it is, but we know what ya COULD think.

I (Marley) was sittin on the back of the chair and didnt feel like moving.  I (Laz) wanned ta get past him ta get ta the desk.  I considered walkin on his back, cuz I like goin to places as direcly as I can.  But I decided that might get me OTB real fast.  An the thing it lookt like might hav had the same result.

So I decided "direcly" could mean a slite detour...  I got down an wakked aroun to the desk another way.

LAZ:  I was just sittin up on ta bookcase with the duck fambly (tere is a small one folowin the big one) an lookin round an noticed somethin od.  The ceelin is GREEN!  Ever other ceelin I ever see is whhite...

I actally pickt this pichur to sho my nice Meezer chest furs, but ten I amembered about the ceeling...

Easy Like Sunday

Sunday is a day of rest fer us.  We are active kitties mostly, so TBT says we should take a day off sometimes.  Well, ya sure dont have ta convince US to relax sometimes!

Laz is finding new places ta take it Easy.

Ayla has an accustomed spot she likes...

And Marley likes the old standard spot where he knows TBT is near.

Be safe, wash yer paws often, dont get too close ta strangers!

Sitting On The Edge

AYLA:  I like sitting up high and out on overhangs.  These boards hang over the deck rails.  TBT intends to attach them to the top of the rails to match the deck floor, but they have been sitting there for several years so it must not be a high-priority thing.  But *I* like them.

I have to be careful not ta actally fall asleep there, though.  LC told me once that she was nappin on the deck once an rolled over an suddenly there was no more deck unner her!  She says she landed on her feet but it was about 8" down.  The TOP of the rails are 3" higher.  So I wouldnt LIKE to try that.

In fact, I think I'll move off...

Well, at least HERE, its even odds that I only fall 3'.  But I dont plan ta actally NAP there annyway.  So Im safe...

Flashback Friday

Today we go back to this week in 2010.  Iza was looking at Skeeter's Memorial Marker. 

She is now next to him where the plant on the right was.  It seems appropriate...

Thankful Thursday

TBT:   I meant to post about Iza leaving us 3 months ago on the 10th of April, but I didn't feel up to it.  So I will today.  I miss her.  I can hardly believe it has been 3 months already.  It seems like just weeks since I held her peacefully purring on my lap one night and she had to cross The Bridge the next morning. 

It wasn't all THAT sudden.  She had been losing her appetite and she wasn't one to not respond to the "dinnertime" call.   She loved her food.  But she had had a loss of appetite a few months before and a shot fixed that.  So I had scheduled a "wellness visit" for April 10th.

That morning, I got up an hour before the exam and found her with dried blood on her backside and was shocked.  The phone rang and it was the vet asking about the exam purpose.  I had to tell her things had changed and it was probably a "goodbye".  She told me to come in immediately and I did. 

After pacing the parking lot for 5 minutes, a vet assistant came out to say I should come in and handed me a mask.  The vet said Iza was dying.  No certain cause but probably cancer.  I told her I expected euthanasia before I arrived and she agreed there was no hope of a treatment.

Iza went off to The Bridge in my arms while I told her what a Good Girl she had been and that the pain would be over soon and that she would be well and happy again OTB.  That she would meet Skeeter and LC and some blog kitty friends. 

I miss the softness of her mink-like fur.  I miss her total dedication to me.  I miss her weight on my lap in daytime and her weight on my hip at night.  I miss the way she would stare at me from the floor with wide eyes of adoration. 

I once thought that my human heart could only stand one cat-hole.  Apparently, it can stand 2, and probably more.  Maybe cat-holes make hearts stronger.  They better, because there is Ayla.  And Marley.  And now Laz...

I miss you, Iza...

She always looked the same age all her years.   From 2009...

To 2020...  She was ageless...

And her last day on my lap... Yes, I could see there was something "wrong".

She purred her love to me until the last day and final moment.
