Its our 15th Blogoversary! Well, actally, it was on Wensday, but we MISSED IT...
Well, ya know how it goes. Days of the week are hard enough fer us kitties ta keep track of and dates of the month are harder - there are just so many of them. If fact, TBT lost track of them hisself!
So since it is also Flashback Friday and the start of our blog is kinna a flashback, we are celebrating taday.
It started with Skeeter and LC when they were both senior cats and has continued with Ayla, Iza, Marley and Laz.
Skeeter, LC, and Iza have gone OTB since. To be kind, we will show them when they were young...
The other 3 of us Mews are still here.
And we are expecting a 4th in September. So the PURR goes on...
TBT HERE: 15 years is a long time. I never imagined that just clicking on a "Free Blog" button back in 2006 would lead to much adventure, writing, visiting, and picture-taking. We have met SO MANY other cats (and people) that we never would have otherwise.
We are sad about the kitties who have left OTB or for other reasons but we are glad for the new ones who come along with new Gotcha stories, adventures, daily life, and sheer various beauty. The Mews and all our friends have brightened up my life.
And it wouldn't have lasted long if all of you hadn't visited our blog! We thank each and every visitor. Some comment regularly, some comment very infrequently, and some never do. I think it is all amazing.
I have an app called Statcounter. Mostly, just tells me how many visitors I get per day. But one feature also shows City/Country. Our regular commenters are labelled by name (don't worry, it doesn't say much - actually it is just the city of the ISP and the number of visits. I haven't seen "1,000" yet but some are getting close. Well, I know our regular visitors have high numbers, of course.
The occasional visitors are fun, too. Getting a comment from some kitty just a couple times a year is wonderful. I think "wow, they must have really liked that post".
But I also enjoy some of the "unknowns" who NEVER comment. There are some from locations where I KNOW I don't know a cat. And sometimes those unknowns have 100s of visits registered. I must be doing SOMETHING right to have those dedicated unknown readers!
It takes so little to keep me happy, sometimes, LOL!
I wasn't sure how to end this post about my happiness to keep going with it for 15 years (and some blogs have been going longer). But it occurred to me to think of it in terms of cans of cat food. Assuming an average of 3 Mews and 4 cans per day... 21,900 cans! And that's just the blogging years and not trying to count the treats and dry kibble.
I can't promise I will keep at it for another 21,900 cans, but I'm sure going to try for several thousand more!
Be happy I didn't try to count the poops and pees in the litterboxes. LOL!
THANK YOU ALL
Congratulations on 15 years and I wish you many more!
ReplyDeleteI am wondering if your visitor counter registers me correctly. For some reason I see on a lot of blogs that it says someone from Tenbury has just visited. I don't come from Tenbury, I don't even know where it is!
Okay, I do now. I just looked on google maps and it is 247 miles from me. I actually live on the outskirts of Plymouth so it is not even close.
I think the location on Statcounter is just the ISP Server. I sometimes get different locations from regular visitors. Probably differences between desktops, laptops, and mobile phones.

DeleteHappy Blogoversary!!Congratulations! That is a long time to blog. I wish I had known about them back then to have followed you sooner. XO
ReplyDeleteConcatulations on your Blogoversary !
ReplyDeleteDon't feel bad...we forgot our 10th! Huge concatulations and many, many more!
ReplyDeleteThe beginning and round number ones are the most important somehow. 1 - 5 - 10 - 15. ;)
DeleteHappy Blogoversary and here's to many, many more!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Mark on sustaining a creative effort over such a long period of time. I'm a regular commenter here but I do visit other blogs regularly and never or only rarely comment. The fact that a visitor doesn't comment often doesn't mean that they don't look forward to reading the latest post.
ReplyDeleteI love the fact that the whimsy of cat blogs has been sustained for so many years. Who would have thought it possible?? I do encourage you to continue - please! Life can be stressful, challenging, difficult and depressing - and sometimes all of those things in a single morning. Cat blogs take us out of those emotions into a wonderland of whimsy and delight, where we see life from a very different perspective and where the small joys of life - yummy foods, the opportunity to go out into the garden, and piling on top of fur brofurs and sisfurs on The Lap - are celebrated.
Thank you for all the time and thought you've invested in both of your blogs over the years.

Writing for The Mews (and truly with their participation and help) has made MY life less "stressful, challenging, difficult and depressing". Well, OK, I'm not all that depressed...
DeleteBut the life The Mews lead is different from mine and it matters. It keeps me grounded. When they are out and about stalking mice or insects, laying in sunpuddles, or sleeping near to me at night, I see the simple joys of simpler lives. I get happiness just feeding them stuff they like, tossing some toys or kibbles, and seeing them enjoy each others' company. Some people rake a Zen garden, some people do yoga, I have cats.
Wow!! Congrats on this wonderful Blogoversary! We love reading it, and visiting in the comments, too...and betimes your own blog as well:)
ReplyDeleteLets hope we can keep it going, us the commenters and you the blogger. It will be amazingly fun to be here when you get your expected wee one:)
Thank you. I recently asked the breeder for early pictures of the possible new kitten. I don't know which will become mine yet, but I want some of the earliest pictures possible. I sure won't be able to get younger pictures later.
DeleteWow, big congratulations on your 15 year anniversary!
ReplyDeleteWell, since you "missed" the date, am going to assume (bad word) it's OK I missed visiting on the made-up next-day date! But seriously, big paw waving to you Mark on so many wonderful years, and cans of foodz! Living life and sharing it with out animals is the best way to do it and you've got that going for sure, in your mind, soul and heart just the way it should be. And thank you my friend for taking the time to share all of it with us as well.
ReplyDeleteI'll have to look back to see what Admiral started on BlogSPot. She was blogging on Live Spaces before that. Concats on your 15 fun years I know all of you and love you each one.
ReplyDeleteHappy 15th blogoversary! Wow! How time flies. So many memories, huh?
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful milestone friends! We are so glad to be one of those who does comment as comments keep a blog alive and vibrant. They lets we bloggers know we are not just shouting out the back door into the dark bothering the neighbors. Which can be alright, depending. MOL We look forward to many more years and we will take the journey with you. PS We will have your card tomorrow Purrs
ReplyDeleteHappy blogoversary!!! We love you guys! Even though we dont visit every day right now, we still love your posts! So glad you've been around for 15 years and hope to see you for many many more!
ReplyDeleteHappy Blogoversary! It's a pleasure visiting.
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo! Fifteen years! I've found that a blog is a great way to tell others about cats, and, as you've found, a great way to meet others with cats. And almost 22,000 tins of cat-food puts it into perspective!
