Thankful Thursday

Today, we are just Thankful for OUT!  Not that we don't love our den, but OUT is where all the best sounds and smells are.  And not that we dont love being around TBT.  In fact, the best thing is when he is out with us!  Well, as long as he isnt doin stuff involving noisy machines...

We dont have new pictures of us out (TBT forgets the camera when he is out), but there are some recents.

Lori walked the tulip path and went on to the daffodil bed.

Taz tends to go to the underbrush hunting mousies.  Binq prefers the deck.  Marley doesnt go OUT as much these days but sometimes sits on the deck.  So Lori gets the pics...  MOL!

And of course, we eventually want to come in fer dinnertime...

Thankful Thursday

We re thankful for challenges in the house.  We mean, outside is great.  Mousies, Birdies, Skwerls.  Great sniffs and smells!  But inside the house, it is mostly restful.  Oh TBT tosses kibbles and toys around but he cant do it all day.  And we do have to nap.

But we sure love The Puzzle Box!

And The Egg.

Thankful Thursday

Today, we are happy for SPRING!  It is finally being nice and warmy outside.  But we dont seem ta have a processed pic of us outside in this nice weather (TBT is behind a bit).  So we will show one from last Spring and we will all pretend it is this year.  MOL!

Flashback Friday

Today, we re-visit this week in 2013.

Iza and Marley wanted to get in for dinnertime.  Wow, Marley looks so young.

Marley, Ayla and Iza had some peaceful time on the waterbed.  The bed was always sort of "neutral territory".  And of course "Marley in the middle" always helped.

Marley enjoyed some time in a cat tree hut...

Outside, Iza and Marley were hunting companions.  No mousies were safe when they were out.

Iza loved to roll around in woods debris.  I always had to brush her fur with my hand when I let her in.

I also built a new birdfeeder.  You can see that the Evil Squirrels started to chew at the opening.  I didn't have a baffle then.  I got 2 soon after.  A flat one at the top of the pole and a barrel type right under it as you can see here.  No squirrel has gotten to the birdseed since then.

And I love having caught a cardinal in flight!

I had a flock of 7 male cardinals (and I assume about a many females).  I still have about as many.  I don't know where they nest, but they thrive here.  When I originally moved here, there were none around.

Happy Flashback Friday!

  -----------

And since this is also "Respect Your Cat Day", we MEWS want to say that TBT always respects us.  He talks to us as equals, he pays attention to us, he tosses toys around to keep us stimulated, he provides The Lap for our closeness and comfort,  he keeps our boxes clean, he makes sure we get good vet care.  He lets us outside so that we can be our natural selves much of the day (and we know he is generally watching over us).

Because he just "knows" when there is an introoder kitty in the yard and we are upset.  He just steps out and walks toward the introoder peacefully.  So we know it is not just "any kitty" he loves; it is US.

We feel great comfort and safety here.

Flashback Friday

For today, we go back to 2009 this week...

LC was still with us.  She liked to sit on the bridge over the small waterflow that went to the 10' pond" (sadly, out of comission these days).

And she liked to just sit in the semi-wild back yard.

Ayla and Iza were exploring around the lawn for signs of any mousies.

They were better together outside than in those days.

Snow, Part 2

TBT:   So, a few days ago, Taz and Binq experienced 1" of snow.  Yesterday, we ended up with about 10".  OK, that's not much compared to other places, but Washington DC rarely gets much.  We are somewhat protected from storms from the West by the Appalachian Mountains.  The bad ones come up from the South (full of moisture) and hit standing cold air.  This one came from the West.

We were predicted to get 3-5".  But this was a real "Arctic Express", moving fast.  It went over the Appalachians like they weren't there.  So I have 10" on the ground and some local areas have 12".  First real snowstorm in 3 years.  And it arrived with 30 mph gusts which will continue several days.

Marley has experienced "deep" snow before (2' once).  But Lori, Taz, and Binq certainly have not (they are just too young).

I took some pictures of them looking at it all...

I mentioned Marley and the previous Mews have/had some experience with deep snow.  But that is only after I have shoveled a path from the deck door to the far edge so they can get out and watch the birds at the feeders.  And laugh at the Evil Skwerrels struggling.  I haven't done that yet this time.

So they just sort of stood at the open door and stared.

Lori finally stepped out on the shallow snow near the house.  She is a very fearless womancat!  She pawed at it.
She walked back and forth near the house a few times (you can see her paw tracks..  So Taz, not wishing to seem afraid, went out too.  But he found a snowless place to sit.

But he sure didn't want to walk on it again!

The most he wanted to do was just look around for a place to run around.  But no luck there!  Everything is covered.

They both came inside soon enough.  Marley and Binq never even put a paw outside the door.  LOL!

Flashback Friday

TBT:   Welcome to the thrilling days of this day in 2014!

Iza was enjoying the outside.

Marley was rolling on the grass.

But he spotted something to pounce!

It was Iza.  He didn't normally do that, but maybe the rolling around excited him.  They did sometimes wrassle, but it was always brief and friendly.

Later, Iza did some power-grooming.

Meanwhile, Ayla was enjoying a calm nap inside while the other Mews were outside.  It is a Martha Stewart Doggie Bed (on clearance sale).  I bought a doggie bed thinking 2 Mews might curl up together in the extra space.  But that didn't happen until years later during the time when Laz and Lori were BFFs.

Easy Like Sunday

The Mews By Marley:   We all enjoyed going out yesserday.

I know I can go right out safely.

Loki used to, but he has been waiting.  Maybe for Binq to join him.

Meanwhile, I was off the deck...

Lori enjoys the deck, but her place under the birdfeeder.

And its a good place ta watch fer mousies.
