Twofur Tuesday

MARLEY AND LAZ:  We apologize for the rather poor picture, but we dint have annythin BETTER for Twofur Tuesday.  An WE arent in charge of actally TAKING the pictures around here annyway, so WE feel no blame.  We mean, have ya ever tried ta press a small button with a pawpad?  It just doesnt werk.

By definition, annythin wrong is TBT's fault.  So, annyway, here we are...

TBT was sittin at the computer desk, I (Laz) was helping to make sure he got a post right (we type, but he corrects a few things).  Marley was tossing a few questions from the floor.

The bright thing is a flea trap.  He brought it out when we got the collars.  The collars werk great (except on Alya).  More about that next time.  But fleas fell right off all of us the first few days.  Not THAT many, we had a few though.  If we had more, he would have noticed earlier.  But, like 2 fell off of Marley while he was sittin on the newspaper TBT was readin.  Just fell right OFF!

It was easy ta see.  A couple fleas staggerring around dying on a black/white paper.  It meant the collars were working.

The flea trap has some warm light in the top an fleas think it is one of US.  MOL!  But it is so old, the sticky-paper at the bottom is are dry.  So on the advice of one of our friends, he put soapy water in the tray below the light an it werks great.  He found 6 in it the first day.

Yeah, he could have just vacuumed the carpet, but he wanted ta know if the trap werked and it did...  The bad news is that there were some around.  The good news is that the trap catches fewer as days pass.  So soon, he will just start vacuuming (when we are outside of course - we hate that thing).

But he will leave the trap out sometimes ta check...

Mancat Monday

MARLEY:  I guess I had more loose furs than I THOUGHT!

There could have been more.  I love my Zoom Groom, but he brushed my butt and I left.  There ARE limits...

Caturday Saturday

After posting about our 15th Blogoversary Day yesterday, we decided that taday would be a good day ta talk about ourselfs.  Ya know, odd things that are sort of uuneek ta us (mebbe, ya never know).

AYLA:  I like windersills.  I like the back of easy chairs.  I skipped goin out on the deck the whole first year of Laz, but I love it out there again and rush the door when TBT opens it.

MARLEY:  I stay inside these days.  I used to be a great mousie hunter, but I love my comfort now.  My favrit place is The Lap, but the Otto Man and the bed (when TBT is in there) are great.

There is a picture of me unner the covers, but I can't find it.  But I go there almost evry night.  TBT sees me coming and lifts them.  I go right in for most of the night.  It is warmiest.

LAZ:  I'm adoring it here.  I never thought a place with Beins would be great, but it sure is now.  I love goin OUT.  OUT is amazing!  Mousies, places ta sniff, sounds ta hear.  Big area ta run around in!  And inside, The Lap.  I'm still a bit cautious, but when it seems OK, I hop up and settle down.  The Lap (an strokes) mean safety an peace.  That is new ta me.  An I'm OK with Ayla.  Marley is better though.  We play!

My old life is fading away.  I forgets parts of it.  Well, not that I want ta remember it all that well.  The impawtant thing is that I think Im stayin HERE and thats all that matters.

I still remember kibbles though.  I LOVE kibbles.  Ayla an Marley like them OK once a day.  I could LIVE on kibbles.  *I* get them 2x a day.  TBT knows...  Each little crunchie is a sign that I matter ta him.  He's OK.  And I now "get" why why The Lap is nice.  I never did before.  Strokes, warmth, safety...

Well, thats US now...

And, yes "Remembrance Day".  For all the friends and loved ones OTB or lost.  It is a day of thought...

15th Blogoversary

Its our 15th Blogoversary!  Well, actally, it was on Wensday, but we MISSED IT...

Well, ya know how it goes.  Days of the week are hard enough fer us kitties ta keep track of and dates of the month are harder - there are just so many of them.  If fact, TBT lost track of them hisself!

So since it is also Flashback Friday and the start of our blog is kinna a flashback, we are celebrating taday.

It started with Skeeter and LC when they were both senior cats and has continued with Ayla, Iza, Marley and Laz.

Skeeter, LC, and Iza have gone OTB since.  To be kind, we will show them when they were young...

The other 3 of us Mews are still here.

And we are expecting a 4th in September.  So the PURR goes on...

TBT HERE:  15 years is a long time.  I never imagined that just clicking on a "Free Blog" button back in 2006 would lead to much adventure, writing, visiting, and picture-taking.  We have met SO MANY other cats (and people) that we never would have otherwise.

We are sad about the kitties who have left OTB or for other reasons but we are glad for the new ones who come along with new Gotcha stories, adventures, daily life, and sheer various beauty.   The Mews and all our friends have brightened up my life.

And it wouldn't have lasted long if all of you hadn't visited our blog!  We thank each and every visitor.  Some comment regularly, some comment very infrequently, and some never do.  I think it is all amazing.

I have an app called Statcounter.  Mostly, just tells me how many visitors I get per day.  But one feature also shows City/Country.  Our regular commenters are labelled by name (don't worry, it doesn't say much - actually it is just the city of the ISP and the number of visits.  I haven't seen "1,000" yet but some are getting close.  Well, I know our regular visitors have high numbers, of course.

The occasional visitors are fun, too.  Getting a comment from some kitty just a couple times a year is wonderful.  I think "wow, they must have really liked that post".

But I also enjoy some of the "unknowns" who NEVER comment.  There are some from locations where I KNOW I don't know a cat.  And sometimes those unknowns have 100s of visits registered.  I must be doing SOMETHING right to have those dedicated unknown readers!

It takes so little to keep me happy, sometimes, LOL!

I wasn't sure how to end this post about my happiness to keep going with it for 15 years (and some blogs have been going longer).  But it occurred to me to think of it in terms of cans of cat food.  Assuming an average of 3 Mews and 4 cans per day...  21,900 cans!  And that's just the blogging years and not trying to count the treats and dry kibble.

I can't promise I will keep at it for another 21,900 cans, but I'm sure going to try for several thousand more!

Be happy I didn't try to count the poops and pees in the litterboxes.  LOL!

THANK YOU ALL

Thankful Thursday

AYLA:  OK, traded my Apple towel fer a fancier one.  The old one hadda be washed.

This one actally matches my colors better, dontcha think?
I want somnething bloo, but matching tan IS sort of innerestin.
An it really IS kinna fancy an I LIKE that.

Twofur Tuesday

Actually, a Threefur...  Its good fer US lately.

TBT says that anyday we are all around happy together, it is a GOOD day.  And we are getting better at that.  An he says there will be a new MEW joining us here in a few weeks and we better be all good together or we will get crummy food fer a week!

He says it will be a little Tonkie girlcat...

We'll see how that works after she arrives.  She better be polite!

Mancat Monday

MARLEY:  So long as Ayla an Laz are getting along better, I can relax...

An yeah the towel on the Otto Man is missing (bein washed).   I can still nap there.  I don't leave much furs...

Easy Like Sunday

AYLA:   More proof Laz and I are getting along...

Not that I don't still hiss at him sometimes, but it sure is better than last year.  It's more a habit now than a need.

A Day In The Life

TBT Here:  I thought I would describe a typical day.  I think I did that once some years ago, but maybe things have changed a bit...

Midnight:  I might be going to bed then, or staying up on the computer playing Civilization 2 or in discussion forums, or visiting cat-friends or emailing.

1 AM:  See above.  And sometimes I just stay on the computer until past dawn, so I won't mention that again.

2 AM:  If in bed, Marley is likely to come sit on the bed near my feet.  He kneads the blanket, purrs, and settled down to sleep.

3 AM:  Pee time.  Me, not the cats.  I don't know when they pee or poop.  It's not that they are secretive about it, but I'm seldom there when they do.

4 AM:  Suddenly realize I actually fell asleep shortly after 3.  Because I had a dream!  No monsters. embarrassing situations, etc.  MY dreams are about things failing to work.  Doorknobs fall off, windows leak, I'm walking a long road, stores are closed, my house has rooms I never knew about.

5 -7 AM:  I sleep longer then.  But dreams involve non-working public bathrooms.  Must pee again...

8 AM:  Marley likes to get under the covers.  I think the house gets too cold for him.  I keep it at 72F daytime but 68F at night.  So I guess 68F is his lowest comfort point.  He loves the heated waterbed and "unner the covers" is warmer and he settles a foot away from me.  Sometimes Laz joins him. But Laz is a serious contact cat.  He pushes harder against me than any cat before, and I can't sleep with "hot cat contact".

10 AM:  Laz leaves the covers and gets active, running around the house and complaining loudly.  His natural call is a "crying, whining" sound.  For a cat who never got outside his first 3 years, he sure loves it now!

11AM:  Laz starts walking around the bed.  Sometimes he jumps on me.  Its daylight, and he wants to go out.  But I won't allow a cat outside if I am not up (in case there is a problem).  Sometimes, I am still in bed at this time (well, if you go to bed at 3 AM sometimes, 11 AM is normal).

Daytime is less habitual...

First thing after I get up of course is the feed The Mews.  It is so automatic, I just take cans out of the Mews Pantry and pad to the kitchen.  Fortunately, I have 2 dozen catfood bowls.  The pantry is arranged for various flavors alternated land and sea tastes.  I think that varying the tastes makes them happy, but for all I know, they don't care.

After First Meal, I open the deck door.  Laz will go out in rain (he knows where there are dry sheltered places).  Ayla jumps on the deck rail under the shelter of the roof overhang.  Marley stays inside mostly, but loves sniffies so I leave the door cracked 1" for a few minutes.

Second Meal is always a different flavor.  I arrange the pantry that way.

In midafternoon, we play toys.  None of the current Mews are big toy-mousie-chasers like Iza was.   Marley doesn't even get the concept.  Ayla will play sometimes.  Laz is beginning to like wand toys.  I've never had cats who ignored toys so much before.  I try sometimes...

5 PM:  It's crunchy time!  I make a cocktail, the Mews like their crunchies.  Ayla likes them "OK", Marley likes them more.  Laz grew up on dry kibble and LOVES the 5 PM treat of them.  And I have to admit that Marley will eat his less-favorite canned flavors if they are topped with a few crunchies.  After he eats THEM his tummy is activated and he eats all the rest of WHATEVER is in his bowl.

7PM:  MY dinnertime...  The previous Mews loved me tossing kibbles around.  The current ones are beginning to enjoy that but not dedicated to it yet.

8PM:  After dinner, I watch some specific TV shows.  I have assorted cut fresh fruits and nuts as snacks.  But it is Laptime for The Mews.  It is becoming a bit random about which Mews sees the Lap first.  Marley is most demanding of it, but Laz is enjoying lap-attention more these days.  Ayla gets laptime, but she likes the back of the chair a lot too.  She also lays over my shoulder a lot.

10PM:  The Mews usually decide to go sleep about this time.  Marley likes to nap on the floor next to the waterbed for some reason.  Ayla will nap on the back of the easy chair or on the aquarium hood (warmer?) and Laz loves napping up against the pillow on the bed.

11PM:  Last meal (there are generally 5 or 6 during the day).  They know the sound of a can being opened and walk around me as I spoon food into bowls.  They get more meals per day but smaller ones.

And then, back to midnight and repeat...

Flashback Friday

This week in 2009, LC was enjoying a thorough head-grooming session out on the deck...

Mousieskins

Summer asked about Iza's deskinned mousies.  So here are 2 pics...

She loved to rip them apart.  And she guarded them like a dragon on a pile of gems...

They were her "mousies".  Never to be touched by the other Mews.

Yeah, a few still had skins...  She was saving them "for later".
